Plant Life

Plants are funny: they live but they don’t move, they may be tiny or huge, and they are always somehow green.

I know why they’re green! Plants have their green leaf color to do photosynthesis, so they can feed on CO2. They virtually eat air.

How tasty. I know why plants can’t move a lot: their cells are surrounded by thick walls. That makes them quite robust and allows big plant bodies to be built, but it also makes them immobile.

On the other hand, plants never stop growing. They can grow new parts again and again to adapt to new circumstances.

Yes, and I know even more – the growth originates from tissues for cell-division. These tissues are also crucial to survive difficult periods like winter.

Stop! Now it’s my turn. There are cool options where these tissues can be in a plant. They might be up in the buds of trees and shrubs, or down in the ground in herbaceous plants.

And some plants survive only as seeds.
